Default Anti-theft needs resetting so engine will start.

2003 ML500. 50 miles from Mercedes dealer. Opened door with non-working chip key, set off the alarm and disabled the ignition. Everything normal at position 2 on the key, but nothing happens when turned to start position. All Mercedes says is the car has to be towed to a dealer. I don't think so!!! How can I reset the anti-theft system, or bypass it?
Thanx, Abe

Default

Turns out that it was a coincidental starter failure. Local garage had it fixed next day:-)
