ESP "Grinding" Problems -- 02 ML500
The ESP in my 02 ML500 kicks in frequently when I begin moving from a stop. The orange triangle warning light flashes, and it often causes the grinding noise and vibration. Other times, the car just stops accelerating for a second or two, before moving again. It is not out of alignment or anything (just got that checked). Any suggestions?

check your tire sizes...if they are to differnt the traction control system will think its wheel slip or spin. and it will activate the light and activate the traction system.. you should be able to bypass it by pressing the esp button too. or you have a bad wheel speed sensor.

They are the same size. I just replaced the brake pedal switch, so lets see what happens. When I pulled off the old one, it looked like the spring was stuck. Hopefully that is the problem. Its a minor job. Took 15 minutes and cost me $30USD.
Will be back if not.

RE: ESP "Grinding" Problems 02 ML500
I had the brakes replaced not long ago. I replaced the brake light switch. Same problem again today. Orange triangle warning light flashed...had a grinding noise and suffered acceleration. Happened a couple of times. Turned off the car and was not able to replicate again.
Its annoying and cannot figure out what is causing this. The tires sizes are the same.
Any help/ideas?
