Default 99 ml 320

hi everyone. i would want to know if the 99 ml 320 is really a gas guzzler???

i only get 3-4 km/liter.

the gas gauge goes down extremely fast. is this a common problem?

would anyone know what things i have to have checked or changed regarding this problem?

i would greatly appreciate any help.

thanks!

yeah, that seems like high consumption, but seems normal if you're doing mostly city driving.

my '06 ML500 gets about 17-18mpg (meaning approx.. 7.5km/liter)

Poor gas mileage could be number of things. I can name a few to check- Spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line, fuel injectors. The engine is basically a big air pump so your consumption depends on a good fuel to air ratio. A lot of people ignore dirty air filters. The plugs, plug wires, and air filter should all be part of a normal tune up. If youhave not done that in a while, that might be all you need.

I have a 99 ML320, 97,000 miles. I notice a pretty significant difference in mileage between winter and summer. Now that it has warmed up a bit here in Wisconsin, my mileage has improved.Highway mileage at 70 mph will be about 21-22, and city about 16-17. If I run with the cruise set at 65 mph vs 70 mph, there is a noticeable drop off in mileage. I do keep it in pretty good tune, and drive it rather reasonably. Given the size and power of that vehicle, I can't complain too much about that kind of mileage.

I have a 98 ML320 with 227K km and still get 33-34km/l in city and 43km/l on hwy at 115kph. Make sure your air filter, fuel filter, plugs and wires are all good and always use 91 octane fuel. Less than 91 and engine efficiency drops off.

Sorry for an error I made on the gas mileages. I didn't complete the conversion. The numbers given were in Km/gal and not Km/L. It should be 7.2Km/L city and 9.47Km/l hwy.
