Navigation and GPS problems
My nav system has been working fine until this week. Problems started with the nav screen and voice directions showing my location in an unknown area and giving non sense directions. My dealer said I need a newer version DVD map disk, and sold me the 2010 version. Now, I don't have maps or GPS signal. Does anyone know what has gone wrong? The dealer said I need a software upgrade, but doesn't the DVD contain the latest software upgrade?

Are you picking up any satellites at all?
keep telling you your off-road?
Mine did this a couple of weeks back, turned out the antennae was faulty.( 2004 e500 antenna on rear glass)
picked up gps reciever with the correct plug that fits sraight
into the command dvd unit, works perfectly.
Drawback is the original ariel also does the phone so reception
is now not so good.
replacement from MB is around £80 /$145 and appears to be relatively simple to replace

Navigation and GPS
Thanks. My car is a 2005, E500, and the nav was acting up just as you describe. Did you replace the Mercedes OEM antenna or did you install an after market antenna? If it was an OEM, why was your telephone degraded?

I installed the aftermarket antenna for the moment, ($16), ordering the oem
tomorrow when the car is in for its annual test.
the antenna (on uk models anyway) does both phone and nav,
3 wires in total, one (gps) runs under window seal from antenna on passenger side, and 2 wires (phone and gps) under window seal on drivers side. Both appear in the trunk.
the replacement must have a FAKRA type connector which plugs straight into the command unit, mounted mine under rear parcel shelf in between the metal shelf and top layer
. hope this helps.
