Due to the violent situation here in Mexico I´m about to buy a factory armored E series car. I have 2 choices. A 2004 E500 Elegance Armor IV made by MB, 66,875 miles on itor a 2003 E500 Elegance (all armored MBs in Mexico come in Elegance trim, I don´t know why), 55,000 miles, armor IV made by MB also.Both have the same price, maybe the 2003 a couple thousand less after negociating with the dealer. Which one do you guys think will be better.Does anybody knows what is included in the MB armoring package?

 

They are both a good choice because the E500 comes with a 5.0V8 With 302bhp. That will get you out of a violent situation for sure. Here in America i dont think Mercedes offers an armord package. People who get armord cars here have to get it done by a specialist.

 

Tell me about it. I spend part of my time in Orange County, CA where I used to live, I have never seen an armored car in the U.S. but my business is here ... so. I´m planning to stay another 4 or 5 years around here, beautyful country, it´s a shame drug lords seize control of ordinary people´s lifes.

The only arormed cars that can been seen in the USA are usually for important Goverment officalsor a stupid Hollywood celeberty LOL. I have never been to Mexico but i also here it is avery nice country and it is too bad aboutall of the problems down there.

 

Looks like they are equipt the same so buy the one with fewer miles if it checks out to be well maintained.

Well I went to see the 2003 E500 today, it was bright silver, my favourite color, but it was a p.o.s. The previous ownerwassome kind of dirty guy,steering wheel, roof panel, everything in the interiorwas filthy andin very bad shape. the exterior was so so.TomorrowI´m going to see the 2004, more mileage but my dealer, the oneI buy all myMBs from, tells me the car is in pristine condition, it is Indiun Grey Metallic, in Mexico they call it Cuban Silver, that´s funny because I´m Cuban, for me it looks like gold. Now, if I buy it I would like to transfer all the seats, door panels, and wood trim from my E320 Disegno, Do you guys think it will be easy to do, or it´s better for me not to touch it. I reaaaaaaally don´t like the Elegance sobriety.

 

Ya definalty stay away from that 03 E500 in bad shape. Who else knows whats wrong with it. If the interior is bad then chances are that he didnt do any services to it either.

 

Exactly. The other dealer promises me he have all the maintenance records of the 2004 one. Let you now tomorrow.

 

Finally I bought the 2004 E500 armored level IV- Elegance trim, harman kardon stereo, heated seats front and rear, parking sensors, multicontour front seats, and xenon headlights as options. 66875 miles, let´s hope it will be trouble free. The car runs great, feels heavy but when you push the gas runs reallyyy fast.

 

Congrads on your buy. Them E500 have a lot of power so getting out of a situation should be no problem. 5.0 V8 302BHP 0-60MPH IN 5.9 seconds and iTHINK it has 155mph top speed butDONT quote me on that.
