Hi, I have recently bought an 1999 E430 and my service due now light has come on. I was wondering is there a way to reset it. I service the car myself as I am a qualified mechanic, however I don't know how to clear it.

Key on (position 2, all idiot lights come on, engine NOT running)
PUSH the trip odometer reset **** twice rapidly, the time/distance remaining for FSS is shown.
PUSH button in and hold it in.
Turn key OFF (DON"T release the button!)
Turn key back to position 2....KEEP holding the button down!
You'll need to hold it down over 10 seconds, you'll hear the beep and 10000 will be the new display. DON'T release the button until you hear the beep.
The (O) button is the one
Make sure the doors are closed

I should have thought to tell you it might take a few tries..........It's not the system,its in how to do it.You have to really quickly press the o button twice,like twice in a half second,thats the trick!!!
glad it worked out.
Also concider joining mbworld.org w210 and benzworld.org w210 great diy section and a lot of the same members,you could build a benz with all the knowledge base on the three sites!!!!

Nope, that one requires the steering command buttons use.Do you have the owners manual?

Following a completed A or B service the Mercedes-
Benz Center sets the counter mileage to 10 000 miles
(Canada: 15 000 km).
The counter can also be set by any individual. To do so:
Turn the electronic key in steering lock to position 2.
To call up the trip odometer and main odometer, press
button è or ÿ on the multifunction steering
wheel until the display appears. See page 96.
Press button j or k until the FSS indicator
appears.
Press button J on the instrument cluster for
approximately 4 seconds.
The multifunction display will show the question:
“DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL?
CONFIRM BY PRESSING R�
Press button J on the instrument cluster again for
approximately 4 seconds, and hold until a signal
sounds. The message “SERVICE INTERVAL HAS BEEN
RESET� appears in the multifunction display.
The new service indicator is displayed with the reset
distance of 10 000 miles (Canada 15 000 km).

What ohlord said work great for a 1999 E430 to reset the 10,000 service. put key in 2 position press "0" twice very fast. Now press and HOLD "0" turn key back to off and then back to position 2 hold until resets to 10,000.
