Default AC Leaking

my AC on my 1994 e320 sedan does not blow cold, the mechanic put feron in it and about 3 days later all of it leaked out, he said it will cost 1200 to fix, im thinking the evaporator is leaking since it does not show a leak anywhere else under the hood, and also only my 2 middle vents blow air out, the ones on the side do not blow air or blow very little. Would i have to remove the dashboard to see the problem, any info would be helpful, thanks.

Default RE: AC Leaking

it is definitely leaking.

you will pull out the evaporator anyway, so check the vacuum system as well. (elements, hoses, valve block, connections).

replace only the evaporator after and extesive check and no external leak is found. some oil spot must be visible on one area of evaporator that confirms the leak. if no oil spot, check further more.
