Default E320 Immobiliser Problem. Fault P1570

Hello everyone, I'd really appreciate any help that anyone can offer on this problem.

I have a 97 E320 that won't start. It turns over great, but it just won't start. Local mechanic was able to hook up to it and he recieved a P1570 fault which refers to the immobiliser. I've looked through some posts and it would seem that some people have chosen to bypass the immobiliser. My question is, if its a problems with they key's transponder chip, and not the battery powered wireless entry chip in the key fob will bypassing the immobiliser as many have done work, or will another system of the car still be looking for the correct transponder chip signal in order to start? As I understand it the wireless entry system and the key's transponder chip are two seperate systems. I've replaced the batteries in the key fob, and I don't get any flashing lights when i try to start the vehicle, the lights go red once when locking, and once green when unlocking, but nothing when starting.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
