Default driver headrest not working 04 E500

Today my driver headrest stop working. Over the past couple of months, periodically the headrest would not immediately go back down when seats were adjusted. But today when I adjusted the driver seat, the headrest went up but it will not go back down.

Any suggestions?

first just use the headrest switch and move it all the way up and all the way down, sometimes what happens is the headrest itself pops out of the motor and will usually go up but wont go down unless you manually push the headrest itself. you can just bang on the headrest downward and it should pop back into the motor.
if the seat looses its memory from a battery replacement etc. , the seat might need to be normalized. move the seat to all positions forward back up down. the front and rear of the seat. also the seat back move that all the way forward to the stops. the seat now knows where the stop postions are and and the headrest should work correctly.

Thanks for the advice....
I was about to try it and guess what the headrest went down with my first touch of the button. I only tried pushing the button 60 times earlier today and no luck.

But I will keep in mind what you provided in the future.
