Default check engine, check electronics light

I just bought a 1996 E300D, the car has 137K miles on it and it drives great.
But the check engine, check electronics light comes on every now and then.
I called the guy who sold the car to me and he said he put installed a re-man A/C compressor into the car and ever since the lights comes on as the compressor was not a OEM part.
My question is ..... can he be right and if he is how do I get the lights to stop coming on.
By the way this is my first Merc.
Thanks in advance.

Buy a code reader,by following the link on deals sticky over on benzworld.org w210 group, referenced to me.Or have the code read for free at autozone schucks pepboys and the like, write it down ,even if the light is out it will store the code as pending in its memory,so when you have it post it here,or join the other great forums at the above and at mbworld.org and post at all three.Once we have the code then it can be figured out.

Hi there, I have the same car 1996 E300 Diesel with 130K and the codes are as follows
P1367
P0200
P0400

Previous ownerhad been driving the car withCEL onfor over a year without any problem. Should I be concern about this? Can I fix this myself?

no signal top dead sensor circuit p1367
and the p0200 could be causing run problems or reduced mpg.
Might be good to at least check them out.
post on benzworld.org w210 section ,couple of good diesel guys over there.
