ABS BAS ESP malfunction
I need some help on this issue. In the last 2 mths the ABS, ESP and BAS light comes up on my 2002 E320 AWD wagon only when I am driving on highway(above 55 miles/hour). Can you suggest some thing that can be done?
This malfunction won't show up for weeks if i'm driving on back roads.
- How do you reset brake lamp switch suggested in different posts for the same problem?
- If I take my car to MB service how much they charge to detect the problem ?
- does this looks like a dirty sensor connector problem, if yes Can i myself clean it up or do I need to take it to a service station?
- is this a battery problem
Thanks.

RE: ABS BAS ESP malfunction
More often than not, it's the brake light switch.
But, different sized tires can also cause this. If tires were replaced with different sized tires when they were the same from the factory, this will happen. Also, inconsistent pressures between the tires resulting in one or more rotating with differing circumferences will cause this.

RE: ABS BAS ESP malfunction
Hi Sleepwalker,
The dealership is asking for $275 to run some diagnostic tests and then replacing stop light switch.
Do you thing it's worth taking the car to dealership or getting it replaced through a repair shop for $80?
Thanks.

RE: ABS BAS ESP malfunction
PLEASE HELP! WHILE DRIVING MY2001 E320 IN THE RAIN, MY ESP, BAS, AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS STARTED TO FLASH. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK; THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO REVERSE, DRIVE, ETC. IT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. I GOT THE CAR TOWED HOME. I HAD MY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED LAST YEAR. IT LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE THE SAME PROBLEM; HOWEVER, WITH THE CAR NOT ABLE TO GO OUT OF PARK, I'M WONDERING IF IT IS SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS. HAS ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR SITUATION WITH THE CAR BEING STUCK IN PARK?
ALSO, A FEW MONTHS AGO, A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER SPILLED INTO THE GEAR SHIFT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO CLEAN UP THE LIQUID AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO DRIVE, ETC. I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO SEE IF IT WOULD RESET AND THEN THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER START. AFTER DRYING OUT OVER NIGHT, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THAT WAS THEN; I'M STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR BEING STUCK IN PARK AFTER SEEING THE BRAKE WARNINGS.
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
