RE: 89 300E Console removal
Thanks for the reply. The console that I am referring to is the piece between the seats that encompasses the shift lever, window switches and the cassette radio fader switch.
Cheers.

I think the part WertJamp is reffering to is between seats!
I have had mine out several times on my 87 300DT. I just pull out the carpet in the tray under the fold-out arm rest, and there is one philips screw, center forward in the tray. This holds the wood panel secure.
After the screw is out, lift the panel up from the rear. Because the switches are secured to the panel, and the plugs secured to a frame secred to the tranny hump, you will have to pry the wood panel up as it unplugs it's self. The forward part of the panel is hinged under the ashtry but after you raise the aft panel up, it will unhinge. You'll need to move the shifter into neutral position.
Now you can access the fader switch...........Good Luck!

I just installed the fader switch following the instruction from FogHorn (no offrnse to SleepWalker). It took about 15 minutes of casual discovery. I have copied SleepWalker's instructions for future reference. Thank-you all.
