1991 300e - starting problem after battery fried / overheating
I have a 1991 Benz 300E 3.0l whose battery got fried and would not start after that.
Prior to this incident, I had changed the voltage regulator on the alternator.
The battery was hot and litreally empty with caps blown away and heavy rotten eggs smell.
I Called in AAA, filled up water and got a jump start and then drove a littl bit trying
to get to the workshop. Car started heating up and the fans would not get turned on so I
parked the car at a friends place for 3 months as I was away from home.
The driver power seat is also not working.
Has this incident damaged any relays, electrical components, computer etc which is preventing
the car from starting.
Everything seems to be fine including spark, compression, fuel etc. The car would just
not start.
Pls help / advice as I love this car and would like to keep it as long as I can.
Thanks in advance.

Circuits are often protected with an "over voltage relay" to protect delicate electronics using an auto resetting relay type fuse. However these also have a mechanical (wire type) fuse on them as last resort.
However you state that you have both spark, fuel and compression so the engine should start.
Incidentally by Fuel do you mean fuel in the tank or pressure at injectors?
Need to double check you have good spark at all cylinders, all cylinders have good compression and that there is fuel pressure on the injector rail (I assume you have injection on this model).
If this is confirmed then maybe the Crank/Cam sensors are faulty so the good spark is occurring at the wrong time. Can't think all injectors have gone. Check to see whether one (or all) are actually clicking and letting small quantity of fuel through during cranking.
Other idea is you cold start device faulty. Get around this by squirting a bit of Easy start or similar into the inlet manifold while cranking.
Good luck,
Stuart.

Hopefully, the short didn't melt the insulation off any wires causing them to short circuit. That kind of bad luck usually only happens to me! Blue
