Hi all. I've owned this '88 300E for about a year now and it's in excellent condition. A couple of things. Does this have 2 fuel pumps? If so where are they? I'll assume one is in the tank and the other? Also where is the fuel filter located? I don't see it under the hood nor under the vehicle. Behind the rear seat maybe?

It starts a little hard but idles great and cruises good but off idle it stumbles pretty bad like it's skipping. It also starts rough, like it starts on a couple cylinders then picks them up. I changed all the plugs and they all looked good and consistent. I've worked on cars for a long time but have never dealt with this type of fuel injection. I just ordered a Haynes manual but not expecting much from it, their usually useless but it's a start.

Second I'm having the no shift between 2nd and 3rd gear under a load. No load it shifts normal for the most part and WOT it shifts but under acceleration it free wheels then go into gear. The modulator has vacuum and appears to hold it when I test it. Ideas? Should I increase the pressure?

Any help would be appreciated or ideas. Thanks.

Hello all and thanks for help. I find it hard to believe that no one on this forum has ever replaced or repaired and '88 300E. Judging by past threads I have read on here I thought this was a pretty common model.

I found the location of the fuel pumps and filter. I attached a pic.
