remote operation of contertible top
Just took delivery of a CLK 320 cabriolet white with Ash interior and Ash top (appearance package, CD changer, Nav)
It's my wife's but I get to drive it. Damn pretty car.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has experience with the remote operation of the top with the key. It starts, but then hiccups a number of times before it finishes. It's like the key or the RF receiver is not working right.

RE: remote operation of contertible top
Mine works fine, but I have only tried it once since taking delivery of the car in January (weather is too bad up here in Scotland to get the hood down yet!). My other Merc had some trouble with the remote fob last year (C Class) making opening and unlocking the car intermittent - sounds like a dodgy remote.

RE: remote operation of contertible top
I actually learned the reason.
The remote is infra-red like a TV remote control. The sensor is located on the door handle. I thought it was a radio system like other keyless remotes. If I get the pointing right, it works fine.

RE: remote operation of contertible top
The SmartKey uses both infrared and radio frequencies. The range has actually improved a lot (door [un] lock), compared to the folding-key remote.
My smartkey rarely open /close the windows unless i pointed it at one of the sensors
