Default Replacing factory stereo with clarion

I'm replacing a factory fitted mercedes cd/radio system with a clarion model that plays all cheap cd-rs and mp3s unlike the current mercedes system.

The only thing missing from the clarion model is the metal enclosure which is meant to fit into the car dashboard but as the factory fitted system should have one, would it still be possible to install the clarion stereo system or is the enclosure meant to be specific to each model.

I've ordered the removal keys so I'm posting here in the mean time to be prepeared for any thing unusual.

Default RE: Replacing factory stereo with clarion

I've replaced the stereo and there wasn't any nasty surprises, only took 30 seconds.

The only question I have now is the clarionstereo system that I have fitted had to be turned on manually and also turned off manually as this is how had it when it was fitted where I bought it from. I'd now rather have the unit just turn on when car ignition is turned and turn off when the car is off.

It has to do something with the wiring so any body got any ideas about this?
