OK EVERYONE HERE U GO HOW TO RESET THE SERVICE A ON YOUR MB
THIS IS FOR A 2001 C240 AND C230 I HEARD SOME PEOPLE SAY IT WORKS ACTUALLY ON ANY 00-05 MODELS SO JUST GO AHEAD AND TRY IT AND SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO FINALLY POST THIS
1. FOLLOWING VEHICLE SERVICE, FSS COUNTER CAN BE RESET. TO RESET MAINTENANCE DISPLAY, TURN IGNITION KEY ON, WITH ENGINE OFF (NORMAL DRIVING POS)
2. CALL UP TRIP AND MAIN ODOMETER BY PRESSING BUTTONS ON MULTIFUNCTION STEERING WHEEL. PRESS BUTTON UNTIL DISPLAY APPEARS ON INSTRUEMENT CLUSTER. PRESS UP OR DOWN ARROWS ON TEEERING WHEEL UNTIL FSS DISPLAY APPEARS ( SERVICE IN XXXX MILES, WITH SMALL OPEN AND WRENCH SYMBOL)
3. PRESS THE RESET BUTTON ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ABOUT 2 SECONDS ( THAT’S THE ONE THAT YOU PRESS TO 0 YOUR MILEAGE) MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY WILL SHOW QUESTION " DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL? CONFIRM BY PRESSING RESET BUTTON" PRESS RESET BUTTON AGAIN TO RESET SERVICE INDICATOR. NEW SERVICE INDICATOR IS DISPLAYED WITH RESET DISTANCE OF 10,000 MILES
4. ON C240 AND C230, RESET BUTTON IS AT LOWER LEFT CORNER OF INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM PAD.

I have a 2003 240 and the reset works....you just have to make sure the key is turned as far as it can go without starting the car--when i was having problems, it was because i didn't have the key turned far enough. hope this helps

That's right....turn the key to the position as far as it will go BEFORE it starts the engine.
If that doesn't work, get some incense.......maybe three sticks........and burn it while you
fiddle with the key position. This will increase your "awareness" and probably help you with
a successful reset. If not, put a piece of black electrical tape over the reset indicator.

I am new to MB ownership. I did purchase a service reminder reset device. It plugs intothe 38 pin connector. My ride is an 03 C240. Was this tool necessary or will the described procedure work on my 03?
