Oil Filter O Ring ( 2002 C230 Coupe Kompressor )
Quick question for those of you who do your own oil change. I just bought the oil filter from the stealership ( part number A 104 180 01 09 ) , and it came with only one filter and a one large O ring. My question is , how many O Rings do you need to replace? Watching an online video for a slightly newer model I notice they have 3 O rings to be replaced. Can someone point me to the right direction ? Also I notice on the forums there were a lot of talk about getting a Fleece Filter. I don't see any for my model on Autohauz , are they available for my year?
Thanks again guys

if your engine is the same as 2005 (1.6 supercharged) there are 3 o rings. Two are tiny (1/4" or so) and go on the metal rod that holds the filter down. They should be in the same plastic wrap as the big one. The dealer should have sold you the fleece filter (it looks kind of like cotton rather than paper). I think it is only aftermarket that don't use the fleece (and the non-fleece won't hold up to the 1 year interval that is common).

It's really weird but the part dealer swears that it's the right filter. Also i can't seem to find any fleece filter for this year. Anyone has a part number that I could use. The guy at the Mercedes Part Shop showed me a EPCnet blow up graphic that only showed the filter and one o Ring like the picture below

go on ebay and look at item number 190458062960.
it shows the little o rings. I think it also shows a fleece filter (see how kind of fuzzy at the part sticking out the top) but hard to tell from photo.
also see www.germanfilters.com
your 2002 may not use the 3 o ring set up.

Thanks schumicat. I waited a while and nobody responded so I drove to the dealer with my filter and ask them which is the correct way to put it back . The seal part goes to the top of the filter cover. Maybe next time I'll learn to pay more attention when I'm removing the filter.
