Default Code P0410 on C230 (2002, Kompressor, 2.3L)

I've read many threads in regards to the code P0410. They give some ideas but I am still not certain where to search the problem.
I own this car for not so long and not quite familiar with MB in general.
The code P0410 (Secondary Air Injection System) was there at the purchase time.
Reading the posts, I realized that the strange sounds I hear every morning could be related to this failure.
In the mornings, when I start the cold engine, the muffler's mumbling is very noisy for 2-3 minutes. These first 2-3 minutes the engine is also sounds somehow differently. Then something changes in the engine's sound and immediately after that the muffler becomes much quieter, as normal.
I checked the whole exhaust system including the muffler and did not find any holes there.
Where is the air pump in this car? How to test it? Anything else I can look at to identify the strange behavior and sounds?

Thank you in advance for your inputs.

Some additional information:
From the vehicle's documents, I know that this car was in accident few years ago. One dealership's document states that intercooler has the cracks patched with epoxy. The cracks possible could be related to the accident.
Where is intercooler located?

Default PO 410 secondary air injection

First thing, try to clean fuel injectors with Techron fuel cleaner. Check engine light should go out on it's own after 4-5 trips. In some cases this will solve the problem. IF NOT this is what need to be done:
1. test and clean air pump,
2. test and replace one-way air check valve,
3. replace the air pump inlet hose,
4. replace the air pump fuse.

Thank you for your response, Platonmind.
I am eager to check your suggestions.
Excuse me for the dummy question: where is the air pump located in this car?

Mbgt is right there is no air pump because the supercharger acts as the air pump when starting. you will notice the difference in sound when the supercharger is in air pump mode.

Dear Volunteer,

I wonder if you ever fixed your problem. I am having the same symptoms with the same error code. My technician told me that it is difficult to pinpoint the problem so, I have no idea how I will get rid of this problem. Thanks!

Yes, I resolved this issue about 3 months ago. I've made 3-page document with photos and my diagnostics notes and never found the time to publish it here. Let me do it tonight.

Guys, please PM to me.
The file (PDF, 360K), I created for you, is too big for this "cheap" web site to attach. Damn!
Please, PM and I respond with this file or advise how else I can publish it here.
