cigarette lighter C230 2005 Kompressor
I have a C230 2005 sedan.
The lighter was working fine until i put a splitter for connecting ipod and another device to the cigarette lighter, now the lighter does not work.
Sometimes there is an orange light in the lighter holder, but when i connect the ipod or anything for that matter, i don't see a green light on the device that's been connected.
also seems like the lighter itself isn't quite sticking in and popping out to use it as a lighter.
Not sure if it’s a fuse related issue or something else.
PLEASE assist.
thank you in advance

RE: cigarette lighter C230 2005 Kompressor
just to add to this.
a)the ipod adapter works fine on my other car
b)as mentioned, tried connecting gps adapter aswell and that won't light up either
so there's something wrong with the lighter itself.
where's the fuse for the lighter specifically on the c230 ?

OK>found it!
It's NOT inside the car interior. It's under the hood. Pop the hood and look on the driver's side up near the firewall for a black plastic
cover that goes over the fusebox and the brake master cylinder. It's attached at the rear with two small black plastic ***** you turn
a half turn to release and then slide the thing out of the little tab on the side of it and remove it. There you will see the fuse box with
two shiny metal clips that just pop up to open the fuse box. Now, look in there towards the FRONT of the car and you will see ten fuses
in a row. The cigarette lighter fuse is the FIFTH ONE GOING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE (right side) of the car. The official number of
that fuse is 47, but it won't say that on top of the fuse. It will probably be blue and have a white 15 on top of it for 15 amps. That's it.
hope this helps you out.

Thank you, i wasn't sure if i would have any luck in getting a response.
But thank you.
I have printed out your response and will follow it
Will let you know how it went.
(oh btw - is there a spare fuse somewhere, or do i need to buy one first)?

You're welcome.
There might be a spare somewhere, either in that fuse panel box or in the one inside the car behind the panel to the left of the steering wheel and down a bit.......I don't know.......I didn't look for one, so I really don't know. It's a 15amp fuse, so you should
be able to find one anywhere. Hint: Check the fuse first to see if it's blown. Look at the top of the fuse to see if it's in one piece.
It may or may not be the fuse. Right?
