I was wondering if anybody else has had this same problem. I tried to program the door opener on my 98 C280 like it says in the manual. The light beganto blink, and after holding the opener up to it and pushing the button, it began to blink rapidly. The rapid blinking is supposed to mean that it accepted the code, but I still can't get it to work. Hope someone can help. I also tried erasing all previous codes, and reprogramming but it still didn't work.

You have a rolling code garage door opener. You need a friend to synchro the cars opener to the the doors. The direction are on the same page, for rolling code openers. Rolling code openers roll a different code each time you open the door. someone has to get up on a ladder push the code button at the same time you program yours. Also, make sure you have cleared the mirror opener, as it will not take a code if one is stored on any of the buttons.

 

Really, I guess I missed the tidbit about rolling garage door openers. Are you sure a 1998 is compatible with the rolling code?

 

In fact I couldn't get my mother in Laws garage door opener with a rolling code to work, but mine has a rolling code and it worked.

No, I am not sure, but read the entire instructions on the garage door openers. Since this in car devices have come out all I think have the rolling code feature, as most new or newer openers are rolling codes to keep the bad guys away.
