C230 AC Problems
I have a 97 C230 Sedan. The A/C went out last Monday in Central FL. Started to blow fiercely hot. I switched it off and made appt with my mechanic. Tuesday morning, it worked like a champ and then went out again on Wednesday. My local mechanic did a system check on Saturday and said all the mechanicals under the hood appeared fine and the freon/pressure etc were all up to snuff. My debate is whether this is a problem with the control panel on the dash or the a/c heater control valve. Would like to try to fix on my own first if possible. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

RE: C230 AC Problems
Should I replace the entire valve then? If you could provide some assistance on how to get at it, that would be great.

RE: C230 AC Problems
ballcap,
the sensor is under the dash just fwd of the obd2 connector. the car isn't here for me to look right now but i dont remember having any prob locating. i did, however, re-read the mb manual that i have on cd and it stated that the ac will run for 10 min (not 2) and if there is no value from that sensor it will shut the system off. this was the case w/the 99c280 and it WILL reset each time you cycle the ignition key, for 10 more min. also, i did try to clean the sensor with no luck, it is just a temp bulb in an "L" shaped plastic housing a couple inches long. dont clean w/water b/c i think that is what ruins them in the 1st place. get to know your mb parts guy and maybe u can return it if it doesnt work, like their meks do.
