Default Battery Drain Problem

Need help! Battery 2001 C320 drains to zero if not driven every day. Thought bad battery, installed new battery, but still have same problem. Car starts runs and drives ok if driven everyday. Can't find anything staying on in car (lights ect). Disconnected battery ground cable and hooked Volt/Ohm meter in line and measure 12.2 volts drain with everything off key out and doors closed. Any ideas? Car recently purchased, could have been an ongoing problem.

Do a search for battery problems. A number of posts have indicated power seats may be a drain if wiring faulty, that is if you have power seats.

Had same problem with my 2001 c320
purchased new battery but it would be dead if I did not drive it every day.
Took it to dealership and they found that the power seat was draining the battery.

Replaced power seat control module...final cost ~555.00
did anyone else have the same problem??

Default RE: Battery Drain Problem

This appears to be a common problem w the C320. Mine is a 2001 C320. But new batteries are pratically dead. You have to drive the car for some time (a full day?) to charge up the new battery. Its like buying a new cell phone. The battery is new and has some power but you have to charge it up to use its full potential. Initially, I thought my alternator was at fault. No problems now.

A friend of mine recommended that I buy a charger to maintain the battery when the car is in the garage for long periods. I've seen some "smart" chargers that automatically disengage if the battery is full. This would seem to be a cheaper alternative than to have MB charge you for the initial diagnosis plus more $$$ for the labour and part replacement - if any.
