Default 2006 C230 stuck in 1st gear? IDK, help

Hey guys, I just recently purchased a pre-owned 2006 C230. I was going down a poorly lit street and hit a pot hole relatively hard. Not soon after that (10 minutes) I noticed the vehicle was giving me problems. At first, the car felt like it didn't have the same pick up as it had previously had pushed the gas. Then it seemed like it was stuck in one gear. I would speed up and the RPMs would jump but then would just KEEP going up without ever going back down as when the car switches gears. I then noticed the indicated that lets me know if I'm in park, drive, etc…looked funky as well. It did not indicate what i was in. it had PRND_ _ on the screen and where as the rectangle is usually around the letter of what function your car is in (park, reverse, etc,) my rectangle is on the far right on an empty spot. Any ideas of what the issue may be?

I would get the car up on ramps or jack stands and give the bottom a quick inspection for dents, debris or loose wiring plugs or frayed harnesses. It sounds like the shift indicator plug might be loose, but I've never heard of that from a bump.

I'm amazed it's driving at all if it's not picking up the shift position indicator.
