Default Brakes/Plugs

I'm a new c-class owner and I'm kinda hesitant to pay the huge dealer prices. Has anyone had a non dealer change their brakes or plugs (i.e. local service shop, midas, etc.)? If so, how did you like the work?

Lots of people on this site have done both themselves with success. Plenty of independent shops out there that can do brakes or spark plugs for you. Do your homework and get estimates. Usually, you can save over a dealership on these things. Good luck.
