My rear brakes squeak just prior to coming to a stop. Very high pitch screech and short lived just before the vehicle comes to a stop for about 2-3 seconds. I had the tires off and they look normal, rotors were fine and plenty of pad. Appear to be worse with the cold weather. Any ideas? I called a dealer and a tech told me its a Mercedes thing, the brakes squeak a lot. Someone else told me there are better pads out there, but the ones I have still have quite a bit of life left in them.

 

I just had the same problem fixed with my C280, the fix new disc and pad, the squeal was from the pads against the outer edge of the disc as the disc were worn below. No more squeal

 

do mind if I ask a cost amount? I looked at the pads, there was plenty of pad left. Were yours worn unevenly or something?

 

try anti squeal ( get at any parts store) put it behind the pad . put on the puck too . its the puck that makes the noise like a glass when you rub the rim it works

 

can I ask a stupid question? Which part is the puck?

 

No my pad were 50% worn, I got sick of the dust. I paid $32 for right and lefr, pad by Textar and balo disc for $50 each. for the rea

 

the puck is the cylinder on the caliper that pushes the brake pad to the rotor if its a high pitch squeal its what I said . this site has ads for part stores on net keep us posted to get the paste
