check the fuse.

before changing the instrument cluster, a coding must be done and initialization.

many things were stored inside, including the mileage, drive authorization, CAN, and version.

putting back the original one should be okay... it will just function the way it was before.

maybe it has no power or not recieving "wake up" signal.

don't panic.

it's fuse number 42 on the inside fuse box.

was the car a cabriolet or convertible?

was it 208 or 209 model?

can you give me the VIN number? i find it difficult to guess.

Mr. sleepwalker,

i checked the fuse number 42 and its in good shape. i also exchanged the 7.5 fuse with the other one from the extras mba provides and the instrument cluster is still off. Is there something else that could go wrong, like the instruent cluster its self or a fuse in the cluster, what do u think?

Thanks for your help

yes, that was the right fuse.

does the connector on the instrument cluster terminal number 4 (red/yellow wire) got power with the ignition switched "on"?

if it does, then the instrument cluster is faulty. check the circuit board for burn-out.

SLEEPWALKER,

I LOOKED AT THE NUMBER 4 TERMINAL AND IT HAS NO POWER TO IT. I HAVE NO IDEA TO WHATS WRONG. THE CIRCUT BOARD LOOKS FINE AND IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE THERE IS A SHORT ON IT.

THANK YOU FOR HELOING ME OUT AND FOR YOUR TIME TO HELP

that make sense now.

the wiring with power from fuse number 42 goes directly to pin number 4 of the instrument cluster.

check for an open circuit or apply power directly to the pin #4 and see if the cluster works fine.
