dashboard removal (speedometer removal) 1986 190D
I have a 1986 190D and I want to know how to remove the dashboard to get at the speedometer.
The tripmeter gauge is jammed. Please respond to me directly at jenwseto@gmail.com

You dont have to remove the dashboard to get to the instrument cluster to fix your odometer jam. You just need to remove the instrument cluster.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument panel cover from lower left hand side.
3. Disconnect flexible hose from below left side duct.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable from the rear of cluster. Unscrew it counter clockwise.
5. Remove five spring clips securing instrument cluster, then push cluster out from rear.
6. Disconnect all electrical connectors and the oil pressure gauge line from rear of cluster, then remove cluster from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
