I've been looking at those recently, Have you guys been having many problems with them ?

I usually stay away from the first year models until they get the bugs worked out with them.

Your opinion on the 2003 models on up would be appreciated.

I really like the idea of the retractable hardtop as mine is a bit of pain to deal with. haven't got my roof hoist in yet...... might just replace the car though.

They are badass cars but of course they have their problems. Lifter ticking is the most common that i have seen. The rest are mostly eletrical and software problems. Mechanicaly they are awsome! They are the MANS version of the SLK! The retractable hard top seems to creek and rattle at times over bumbs and in and out of driveways (flex).

 

What is the lifter ticking caused from, bad lifter's or the oil is not cirulating properly? What year is the car is the pics? The engine is pretty/

 

Caused by a bad lifter. Its a 2002.

 

OEM DEFECT OR JUST BAD DRIVING AND MAINTENANCE?

 

Thanks for the info. Yeah I've heard about the rattling tops on them.

What year would you say is the best as of now ?

Or I guess this could be stated as Which ones do you see the most of ? Any particular year ? Or just pretty random ?
