Default turn signal issues

I have a 1990 420 SEL and I just changed my turn signals to clear ones. I installed them with new amber bulbs and now when my lights are on, my green arrows in the dash stay on for both sides and the turn signals don't work. When I have the lights off, the signals work fine and there are no lighted arrows in the dash. So does this mean that one of the bulbs is bad or is it another issue with the way I connected the plug in? Thanks in advance , and I hope someone can assist.

sounds to me that you have the wrong type bulb. check the pins on the side of the bulbs. they are probably wrong. or the wrong wattage bulb but i say you have the wrong pins on the bulbs. closely compare the old bulbs to the new ones!!!!

YOUR ABSOLUTELY CORRECTO!!! CHASSIS221,I figured it out once I recalled that I changed the sockets to insure that the pin set up in the wiring would work. The original has dual pins, the new bulbs that came with the clear set were single. A trip to AUTOZONE AND $3.00 problem solved. I am thankful that I wasnt left hanging indefinitely as I only received your reply. I do however appreciate you taking the time to respond.. As I gain info I am more than willing to share, and since I plan on keeping this ole girl for awhile, I will stay tuned. Peace&Blessings from TEXAS, Since I see your in PA, and me being a COWBOY and ALL, LOL.
