ignition lock cylinder

RE: ignition lock cylinder
I am having problems with the ignition lock on the very same model car as yours. I was wondering the anwser to that question myself. My problem is I can't remove the key from the lock cylinder and it won't turn past the first position so I can't even start the damn car.
I found the OEM replacement part on thebenzbin.com, but I don't know how involed the process is for replacing it is. Probably have to rip the whole dashboard apart to get to the thing. I went ahead and ordered the part anyway. Let me know If you figure it out.
Cheers

Here is a link to a site that has a pictorial step-by-step for replacing the ignition lock on a 300D, I'm not sure it will help you or not but it's worth looking at (it's VERY detailed).

RE: ignition lock cylinder
Just yanked mine out just now. Was'nt as bad as my 73' Plymouth. Had to pull the steering wheel off and take apart most of the steering column to do it. Now with my 77' 300D just disconnect all lines to the switch. Stick the key in, turn it, and push in the pin on the switch near with it hooks up to the steering wheel shaft thing. Pushing the pin will allow you to spin the switch. Now I use a large flat head screw driver to pry the dash outwards (while of course trying to damage and scratch/deface all possible surfaces in my way. haha.) Prying the dash out allowed me to spin the switch. Real easy.
