Default fuel priming

I did a roadside filter change on my 79 300D when my spin-on fuel filter started starving the engine for fuel. The filter looked dirty, so I just spun it on rather than pouring the old fuel in the new filter, and ended up getting the injector pump airbound. Are there any suggestions as to the best way to recover from this. I have hand pumped for an hour and didn't get fuel to the injectors.

Default RE: fuel priming

try filling the new filter first then pumping. the pump is very low volume as you noticed. that should speed up the process.
