Default Engine Paint Bubbles

My 1997 SL320 has bubbles in the paint on the top of the engine/valve cover. I see the topic has been discussed in 2002 but never a good solution. Does anyone have updated information re repainting, replacing, etc. what appears to be a common issue. Thanks.

A pal of mine repainted the valve cover using VHT heat resistant paint. And it looked new again.

I think the part is aluminium if so it wants striping off and etching primer used .And then a heat resistant paint applied to it .From the ones i have seen it looks like no primer was used .
