Has anyone seen anything about this race with teams building driverless vehicles to race across a desert in Nevada

I saw something about it on TV. I didn't read the Website info, but when I saw the TV show, the robotic cars weren't ready for primetime. They couldn't go very far before doing something stupid that caused a rollover or a disabling crash into a big rock. I don't know the progress at this point.

It's a US DOD project. The DOD wants unmanned land vehicles for chasing bad guys, like in Iraq.

 

Saddam's people had big success with drones, maybe those guys from Nevada could take some lessons?
Primm is nice location to spend the weekend anyway. Cassinos, good and cheap dining, 100+ shopping outlets.

 

Only a buffoon would make such an asinine statement. Those were unmanned aerial vehicles for recon only. Saddam's people buying them and getting them in the air isn't the kind of "success" that comes with bragging rights. We design them, manufacture them and their supporting equipment, their electronics, and ours carry missles.

The land vehicles are meant to be autonomous. The difference in the UAVs that Saddam's people had and what is being tested by DARPA is the difference between night and day.

You're the one who introduced Saddam to this thread and suggested that the US DOD is inferior to his "people." Did you forget what you said already? Please go back and read your own post. Sheesh! It's a shame because you try so hard.

You know damn well that Saddam's "people" can't teach DARPA anything about autonomous control of land vehicles. So, why did you make that asinine statement? It's because you were trying make a political statement, as dumb as it was.
