I am planning to put new shocks on my 1984 380SL and need help with how to access the top of the shock. The dealer told me to pull out the rear upholstery but it seems easier to go thru the trunk to get to the top of the shocks. Which is the prefered method.

 

I'm sure you've taken care of this by now, but you can't go through the trunk. Removal of the interior parts is actually very easy and you don't have to lean into the trunk to work.
