To Sleepwalker or anybody. I have a"86" 300SL. But do I have ABS brakes? What is the lever on the auto. trans marked E for econo or S for sport, but I don't feel any difference. Maybe you can help. VINWDB1070411A034923. Thanks

 

When the lever is on "E" than you should feel the trans slipping a little more. When its on "s" it should engadge a little harder. Those terms have now changed to "w" and "s" which stand for winter and summer modes.

MBZTech was right because on Economy you start from 2nd gear and 1st gear on Standard.
however, you may also start from 1st gear in Economy mode during full throttle (kickdown switch actuated).
