Anyone have any ideas on how NOT to set the airbag off when removing the driver door panel? Will disconnecting the battery before removing the panel make a difference?
In case anyone wants to know why we are removing it, it's because it has started to make this huge pop whenever you open the door, sort of like a piece of metal has broken or is about to break (hard to explain) but it's really LOUD and pops at every interval.

 

It's probably the door check strap making the "popping" sound, may need to be replaced or itmay just be loose. I've found they are impossible to lube but you can DIY with a OEM part for less than $100.
