Default Cold starting problem

I have a 2000 S430. Recently, when the car is cold, it is very hard to start (it starts, but dies right away). After cranking it10-15 times, it stays running, but idles very rough. If you attempt to drive the car, it runs no faster that 20 MPH. all of these problems clear up when the temprature guage reaches 80 degrees. Any idea what could be wrong? I appreciate any help.

As I think I replied previously get the OBD codes read.
What are they.

As a straight GUESS the temperature sensitive nature if this problem SUGGESTS CPS Cranshaft Position Sensor which is a simple DIY replacement job located on the bellhousing.
WARNING: this GUESS only takes on credibility once codes have been read and none found or those found have no link to your starting problem

Bruce.
I repeat get the codes read first.
No codes present increases the chances of it being the CPS considerably since CPS is known not to set codes.
If codes are present than chances are that it is not the CPS or at least that other things are also wrong.

Stuart,
OK, I will get the code read. I have been on vacation and out of town. I have not done anything to the car yet.

Thanks,
Bruce

i have had a starting problem before and turned out to be cps you can look at this post and see if your problem is the same:\
https://mercedesforum.com/m_72057/mp..._/tm.htm#72057

but i recommend doing what stuart said and get the codes, you can get a code read for free if you go to autozone or kragen or most auto supply stores
