Just bought a 2004 S420. The Command unit has a DVD function. For safety the picture is faded out to prevent driver from distractions. Is this always faded out or is there a way to view movie when the car is parked? Is there a way to bypass this safety feature? What is the point of having a DVD function if you cannot under any circumstances watch a DVD. Any thoughts from anyone?

 

If its fitted it should work when you are parked!

you might have to set the parking brake.

 

Not sure if it senses the parking brake or speed. i.e. <5 mph or similar.
This SAFETY feature can be overridden but it is not to be advised.
However there is something wrong with your installation if it doesn't work when parked up.
