Hey everyone, as some of you may know i have a 2004 S430 and recently i ran into a little problem.
I replaced all the navigation components since my car was flooded.
Here are the things I replaced: Command Unit, 2 Amplifiers, CD changer, DVD Player, Phone Module.
PLEASE NOTE: I have a 2004 S-Class which has a newer version of Command.

SO HERE IS A PROBLEM: After i connected everything, i got into the car and started it, and then turned on the Command Unit, many functions were not working and whatever you do the messege appears on the screen "SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE" after about 15 seconds and unit turns off by itself.

I need help here, do i need programming done, or is there something missing???or connected the wrong way???
NOTE: All the parts are VIN specific!!

Many Thanks

Hello im not sure if this will help but i can try a few suggestions. pull fuses for the stuff and they should restart the fiberoptic ring you also can do system reset in the comand unit by using theSYS or SERV button on the comand. you also may have to have everthing version coded at the dealer so the comand system knows what components are in the fiber optic ring and what order too.maybe the fiber optics not plugged together coerrectly.

thanks for the reply. I tried doing system reset and it still doesn't work, so now i believe i need programming done

Vovpar, i'm having the exact same problem but i didn't replace anything. Just got in the car one day and this problem appeared on my '06 S55. I've tried everything but can't figure it out. Taking it to the dealership next week. I'll let you know what they say about it. In the meantime, if you have any luck fixing yours, please let me know.
thanks!

Navest, i took it to a guy who works with Mercedes and has all the equipment to scan the car, including SDS. I found out that my fiber optic wires were the problem because in order for them to work, they have to be in a loop, and if the loop is broken, then nothing is going to work. My problem was a faulty TeleAid module under the back seat and i am looking for a new one right now. Your problem might be fiber optic wires got disconnected or maybe broken somewhere, or maybe you need the coding done for some reason(did your battery die?)

Thanks Vovpar. I realize you already have yours fixed, but i thought future readers might find it helpful to know what solved my problem. I took mine to the dealership and they checked everything (all wiring, fuses, voltage, etc). It turns out my "audio gateway" needed to be replaced. I didn't get many more specifcs (it was under warranty so I didn't ask a lot of questions).

I still didnt fix mine, because i cant find a TeleAid Module. Those things are expensive and i am waiting to see maybe i will come across something cheap!
