I own a 2001 S430 -

Occasionally, the temperature gauge and the transmission status flash/blink once I start the car.

Any clue on what could be going on?? The car does not drive any different- the lights just blink every now and then.

The temperature gauge looks like it spells 'Jild-E'

The transmission status just flashes SP[current time]

S- standard mode
P- Park

I should add that the temp gauge and transmission lights alternate with each other, too.

There is a recall on the instrument cluster display. Take it to your dealer.
