Default I bought an S55 - What a ride!!

I recenly posted a question here about buying an S600 or an S55. The vote (and my heart) went to the S55. So I bought a 2003 with 35,000 miles on it, knowing I;d have several months of warranty left. Like the 2000 S500 I sold, the S55 has a couple small things that will need to be fixed. BUT: What an automobile. This thing has a level of highway competency that is so far beyond what I expected that It is still making me grin after a week. The brakes are astounding - and that's good because the acceleration is beyond anything you could reasonably expect out of that much metal. I am a performance junky and have had several 930s. The Benz shares the garage with a 400 hp 2006 GTO. The GTO is pretty darn quick, but I think the Benz could have it for lunch. A 50 mile freeway cruise showed fuel usage in the 21 mile per gallon realm, which is just fine with me. I am left to wonder if the S55 is fast, what is the S65 like? If any of you are considering a used S class, you neeed to drive an S55. 2003 was the first year of the blower, so the 2003's and later are the ones to look for.

Mid 50's for a very nice car. I've had one lined up in Las Vegas at $50k flat, but it was not a popular color combo. Black with black continues to be the strongest along with silver with black being next, followed by silver with grey. Again the 2003 and later have the blower on them. The 01 and 02's are naturally aspirated. Strangely enough, there are lots of late M-Bs listed on eBay. I found mine on Traderonline.

I have 2002 S55 and have put 45K on it in 16 months. It's Blk on Blk and extremely clean! All original equipment. Small problems but few complains about the car overall. The car is a beast over 90 mph. The handbuilt engine is a performer and bargain for this type of automobile. I am a car guy and this is my first German built vehicle.

Never look bacK!!!!!!

An S55 here in Portugal would cost a fortune! But I do have something that you guyes don't: I can ride my S320 CDI at 250 km/h (152 mph ?) in the highways.!!!
The S320 CDI is a beast! And flyes at 250 kms/h at 12liter/100km!!!
