Default Front Brakes Engaged When Driving...88 300SEL

It seems like the front brakes are engaged when my wife's car travels 15 or twenty minutes or so in speeds in excess of 30 mph. The front end vibrates so badly, the tires smell like they're burning and smoking. We had the front tires replaced, still the same. Had front end alignment, still the same. Ball joints replaced, still the same. Then we thought it was the calipers freezing up, so we changed to new calipers, rotors and brakes, and still the same.

What can be causing this? It can't be the emergency brake because it is rear wheel drive. Anyone ever have this problem? :? I need some major help after spending 1200.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Did the ABS light come on?
And while changing all them components, did they check to see that nothing bent was contacting the front rotors?

hmm you got me there without seeing the car in person, but try emailing Sleepwalker. He probably could tell you exactly what's wrong. Sorry I couldn't help much, but it might be a drive train problem, something is starting to lock up it sounds.

Sounds as though you may have some bad Brake Hoses or a proportioning valve acting up in the ABS if equipped . The vibration is and odity unless the brakes are grabbing enough as you say to cause it.
