I have a 96 S320 with a physically damaged climate control unit. I want to replace it myself, it seems pretty straight forward. Have anyone replaced their unit or can you refer me to a web site that can describe how to change the unit out. Also taking tips on where I can purchase one for the least amount of money. Thanks

hello, send sleepwalker a private message, he should be able to help you, I have changed my climate control recently, it usually takes around 5 mins the most to take out the whole climate control but the tricky and hardest part is knowing where the screws are located, you don't want to attempt to do it your self without seeing the diagram, it will cost you a lot more when you break the plastic parts and the center wood veneer. but once you've done it , its just like an easy walk at the park as for the climate control, remanufactured it will cost around 850 to 900$ I know its a lot, try the salvage shops they might have one around, what area are you from?

I have a similar problem with my 89 300SE. Once I turn on the heat it continues to blow hot air even if I turn on the AC (I can see the compressor running). Sometime it swicthes to cold and then hot again. There is nothing in between.

If I turn off the climate control, it continues to blow air (if the car is in motion). Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Max

I wonder anyone can fix or repair the climate control unit. My 95 S500 is not monitoring the temperature in the passenger side. It's cold air all the time, even I turn the control knob to 85 still cold air. I have to rise up to HI in order to have the hot air out. Need help on this.

It costed me $180 just for dealer to tell me that my climate control unit went bad. [X(]To replace the unit costs $2000+. If I can find a used one, would you mind provide me the instruction how to remove the control unit.

Many Thanks.

In late 95 the 140 body wennt fom a two piece console/dash cover to one piece. At the same time the HVAC was changed to the one piece style. That control style is removeable using the radio removal tools.
The old style required the removal of the lower panel by accessing lateral "torx" in the ash tray area, removing that panel, and then removing "phillips" screws at the base of the other panel and two screws in the upper part of the radio cavity

Try George Murphy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, he repairs them and sells rebuilts. I bought from him before.

Wild temp fluctuations can be caused by the temp sensor not getting airflow across it. It may not be the control unit.
