Hi, I own 97 E 320 with 55,000 miles. Several weeks ago my check engine light came when I was pulling to a stop (my fuel tank was full, in case it matters). I've been ingoring it pretty much for several weeks, since there were no other symptoms of a problem. Finally, I got the OBDII reading at the local AutoZone. It is P0410 which stands for Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction. I did check my fuel cap and it was on tight. Can anyone suggest what this could mean and is there anything I can do myself to fix it and/or get rid of the annoying light? I am kind of hesitantabout going directly to a dealer since my experiense with them has not been positive. I appreciate any help!</P>

Well, it could be several things. Your right about what the code represents, the air injection system. I would start by looking your air pump over very good, search for disconnected vacuum lines. If all looks well than it's probably your air diverter valve. I don't have a picture of it but it's part of the emissions system and isn't located too far from your air pump.

it will clear itself after several days. Another way to clear it is to dosconnect the battery for a few minutes, BUT, make sure you have the radio codes to re-enter.

Does the AutoZones have an instrument to interpret my Display message: "Check engine: engine electronics" No symptoms now (originally misfired for a couple of miles).

Any help would be appreciated

 

yes they do, they will give you a print out of the PO code and what it means at no cost. However, they will not clear your code for you.

My wfie 1999 E320 check engine light came on, want to remove the battery see if it's reset, but can not locate the battery.

Check the manual, not thing talk about where the batery locate, engine comaprtment said battery under the seat, but can not access this location
